Australia A pulverized their Sri Lanka counterparts by 198 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match unofficial ODI series. Demonstrating a complete team effort, as many as four Australian batters plundered quick half-centuries, while pacemen Billy Stanlake and Sam Elliot picked up eight wickets between them.

Nathan McSweeney muscled 85 unbeaten runs off just 63 balls, as the right-hander turbo-charged the Australian innings in the slog overs alongside fellow half-centurion Oliver Peake (55* off 38). For Sri Lanka A, Pramod Madushan also picked up a wicket, that of home captain.

Sam Elliot’s Five-Fer Folds Up Sri Lanka A For 134

Chasing 333, Sri Lanka A folded up for just 134 in 35.4 overs. Kamil Mishara at number three himself composed 65 of those runs from 79 balls, with Pavan Rathnayake’s mere 28-run effort turning out to be the next biggest benefactor of the innings. The struggling Sri Lankan batters were also aided with 15 extras. As many as four players fell for ducks, and other four managed to aggregate just single-digit scores.

For Australia A, Sam Elliot through the Sri Lankan line-up with scintillating figures of 5-14. Forgotten Australian speedster Billy Stanlake also picked up 3-18, while Bryce Jackson and Liam Scott chipped in with a wicket each.
