PAK Vs BAN abandoned [Source: AP Photo]
As expected, the Champions Trophy match between Pakistan and Bangladesh was abandoned without a ball being bowled. The weather forecast predicted rain for the entirety of the day and it came true as Rawalpindi is witnessing heavy rainfall since morning and no play was possible at the venue.
The Pakistan Vs Bangladesh match was a dead rubber, and both the sides would have wished to end the tournament on a high. The tournament ended in a shocking way for Pakistan as the Mohammad Rizwan led side ended the Champions Trophy without a single win.
In the morning, there was a 60% chance of rain and the entire square was covered even before the game started. After the Australia Vs South Africa match, this is the second game which got abandoned at this venue.
Pakistan and Bangladesh remain winless
Both the teams ended their tournament without a single win in the competition. There was a lot of expectations with Pakistan, but the host nation lost against New Zealand and suffered a crushing defeat Vs India which ended their hopes of qualification.
Bangladesh, on the other hand started the tournament with a loss Vs India and then New Zealand thrashed them as they, too, got knocked out.
This match would have salvaged some pride for the winning side, but rain god had some other plans as they ended the competition winless. India and New Zealand have already qualified for the semis from this group, while the other group is still wide open.
