Ravi Ashwin To Take Further Part In Rajkot Test? Kuldeep Yadav Drops A Bombshell

Due to a family medical emergency, India's veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had to withdraw from the ongoing Test match between India and England. The hosts missed the services of their prime weapon on Day 3, but the rest of the bowlers did a marvellous job in Ashwin's absence to bank a 126-run lead in the first innings.

However, after Team India played a whole day with just ten players, it is understood that the 37-year-old all-rounder will return - as hinted by Ashwin's colleague Kuldeep Yadav ahead of Day 4.

While commentating on-air, Dinesh Karthik stated Kuldeep confirmed that the veteran offie might return in this Test match. Meanwhile, BCCI has officially confirmed the absentee player will join his team on Day 4 - meaning he may come out to bat if needed in the second innings and will definitely bowl during English's innings.

"Both R Ashwin and the team management are pleased to confirm that he will be back in action on Day 4 and will continue to contribute towards the team cause in the ongoing Test match," a press release by BCCI read. "Ashwin and his family kindly request privacy as they navigate through these challenging times."

Ashwin, who pulled out of the game after Day 2, is back home with his family as his mother was admitted to a hospital, as confirmed by BCCI's vice-president Rajeev Shukla. OneCricket understands that the cricketer's mother is back home; thus, Ashwin has decided to rejoin the Indian hurdle.

Earlier in the game, Ashwin reached the 500th Test wicket milestone, becoming the second Indian and ninth overall bowler to do so.

Meanwhile, Team India is in the driving seat - thanks to the sensational batting show put on by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill late on Day 3.

At the time of publishing, Rohit Sharma & Co. are 345 runs ahead in the game, with Gill and Kuldeep at the crease.
