Islamabad will take on Quetta in eliminator [AP]
Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators face off in the marquee Eliminator game of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Friday (March 15). Having just about sneaked past the league stage, the two teams face a litmus test to keep their PSL 2024 dreams alive with a win in the ultimate knock-out clash.
Notably, both the United and the Gladiators ended the first round with five wins each out of their ten games, with only NRR separating the third-placed Islamabad side from their Quetta counterparts.
ISL vs QUE: Team Previews
Islamabad United
United ended their league stage run with a highly encouraging victory over table-toppers Multan Sultans. In a high-scoring tussle, the United franchise came out on top after chasing a daunting target of 229 in Rawalpindi.
Even as their bowling unit conceded too many, Islamabad found valiant contributions from their explosive opener Colin Munro (84) and skipper Shadab Khan (54) to set up the chase brilliantly before lower-order mavericks Faheem Ashraf (23) and Imad Wasim (30*) propelled the team home.
Quetta Gladiators
Abrar Ahmed plays a vital role for Quetta [AP]
Unlike United, the Gladiators couldn't quite pull off an inspiring performance against the Sultans, who defeated the Quetta franchise by a whopping margin of 79 runs. Neither their bowlers provided the Rilee Rossouw-led side substance in the first half, nor did their batters manage to overcome the pressure of the asking rate.
Outside left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein (0/26) and young Pakistan batter Omair Yousuf (37), the Gladiators would've struggled to find positives out of the night. That will have to change if they are to reverse their fortunes in a straight knock-out game against Islamabad.

ISL vs QUE: Karachi Pitch Report
Among the flattest pitches in the world, the National Stadium in Karachi is expected to play true to its reputation for the eliminator clash between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators.
The ground produces regular true surfaces and has relatively small boundary dimensions, helping batters dominate the proceedings throughout the game. If the dew arrives under lights, it would act as another source of frustration and disappointment for the bowlers.
