The 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is less than one week away, several players won't be participating in the cash-league tournament due to injuries or personal reasons. The absence of such players can certainly impact the dynamics of the tournament and the strategies of their respective franchises.

The IPL 17 edition is set to commence on March 22, 2024, with a first match between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

The gaunt pacer from Karnataka, who also represented India in T20Is last year, will be absent from the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the second consecutive season due to a left proximal quadriceps tendon injury. 

Despite showing promise and delivering impressive performances in his debut season for the Rajasthan Royals justifying his price tag of Rs. 10 crore at the auction He scalped 19 wickets from 17 games in 2022. His injury setback has prevented him from taking part in the tournament.

England fast-bowler has been withdrawn from the upcoming 17th edition of the IPL season by his cricket board in order to manage his workload ahead of the T20 World Cup in June and a busy home summer schedule. 

This decision was taken by the ECB in order to maintain the importance of player management and injury prevention in international cricket, particularly with major tournaments on the horizon.

In his absence, Lucknow Super Giants have named Shamar Joseph as his replacement for the upcoming season.

English opener has withdrawn from IPL 2024 citing personal reasons, as his absence leaves a significant void in the team's batting lineup. However, the franchise has moved quickly to fill the gap by naming fellow Englishman Phil Salt as his replacement.

Salt currently ranked second in the ICC T20 rankings, brings a wealth of experience and firepower to the team's batting order.


Gus Atkinson (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Kolkata Knight Riders face another setback with the withdrawal of English pacer Gus Atkinson from his debut IPL season. The decision was made in response to the English and Wales Cricket Board's desire to manage Atkinson's workload effectively. 

With major tournaments like the T20 World Cup on the horizon, boards must monitor and manage the workload of their players to prevent injuries and maintain peak performance.

In place of Atkinson, the Kolkata Knight Riders have chosen Dushmantha Chameera from Sri Lanka as his replacement.

The absence of the veteran Indian pacer from the Gujarat Titans bowling lineup is significant, especially considering his experience and prowess as a fast bowler.

While his absence will be felt by the Delhi Capitals, who acquired him for Rs. 4 crore at the auction. The Delhi Capitals are yet to name a replacement for Brook.
