Phoebe Litchfield Creates History With Swashbuckling Hundred Against India

Australian batter Phoebe Litchfield has been exceptional throughout the ongoing IND W vs AUS W ODI series, scoring back-to-back half-centuries in the first two matches. She made it a hat trick of half-centuries by also scoring one in the 3rd ODI on Tuesday, January 2. 

Opening the innings for Australia Women, Litchfield notched an impressive 119 runs off 125 balls, supported by 16 boundaries and a six. She put on an outstanding 189-run partnership with Australia's captain, Alyssa Healy, who added 82 runs from 85 balls. 

With this, the 20-year-old Phoebe Litchfield has etched her name in history as the first woman to achieve the feat of scoring a fifty in every match of a three-match ODI series against India, a milestone never achieved by any other batter in the 50-over format against India.  

Litchfield smashed 78 runs off 89 balls in the series opener against India. She kept the streak alive in the second ODI, racking up 63 runs from 98 balls. The young batting sensation has looked absolutely stellar every time, playing a variety of shots. 

Notably, during the auction of the Women's Premier League last year, Gujarat Giants invested INR 1 crore to bring her on board. After witnessing her Asia tour performance, it's evident that Gujarat Giants made a smart choice. She looks set to bring a much-needed boost to the team after their tough run last year.
