Pakistan blanked UAE to fly into the Super Four stage of the 2025 Asia Cup after a controversial delay in Dubai. Fakhar Zaman unleashed a blistering half-century with the bat before ace pacemen Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf as well as spinner Abrar Ahmed dismantled the UAE line-up.
Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the tenth match of the Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 between UAE and Pakistan, as it panned out at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Wednesday, September 17.
Siddique, Simranjeet Singh Limit Pakistan To 146
Pakistan opener Saim Ayub fell for a duck, his third in succession, this time to Junaid Siddique in the first over of the match. Siddique also got rid of Pakistan’s other opener, Sahibzada Farhan for just five before Fakhar Zaman and captain Agha Salman staged a counterattacking 61-run partnership.
Salman made 20 off 27 balls while Fakhar top-scored in the innings through his blistering 36-ball half-century. Simranjeet Singh dismissed Hasan Nawaz and Khushdil Shah in quick succession to claim figures of 3-26, and Siddique added two more to his tally at the death to finish with 4-18 from his four overs to tilt the tide back in UAE’s favour. However, a cracking 29*-run cameo off 14 balls by Shaheen Afridi uplifted the Pakistan team to some respectability at 146-9.
Shaheen Afridi, Abrar Ahmed Decimate UAE
Shaheen Afridi struck with the new ball by removing UAE opener Alishan Sharafu for just 12 in the third over of the run-chase. Spinners Abrar Ahmed and Saim Ayub (1-18) also struck once each inside the powerplay as the hosts slipped to a precarious 37-3 at one stage.
Rahul Chopra at number four listed a valiant run-a-ball 35 and formed a 48-run partnership with Dhruv Parashar (20 off 23) before both cricketers were dismissed by Agha Salman (1-9) and Haris Rauf (2-19) respectively. Shaheen Afridi (2-16) and Abrar Ahmed (2-13) added one more wicket to their tally towards the closing stages as UAE folded up for just 105 in 17.4 overs to hand Pakistan a commanding 41-run win.
