India started Day 4 on a negative note as the visitors lost skipper Shubman Gill early on in the innings. Meanwhile, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant were the stars with the bat, stitching together an unbeaten 61-run stand for the fourth wicket by Lunch.
KL Rahul has been head and shoulders above the rest, with the right-handed batter eyeing his first Test century since December 2023. The Bengaluru-based cricketer is batting on 72 (157). The India star had a couple of nervous moments—the first being when Harry Brook dropped a catch, giving him a lifeline.
Rishabh Pant Checks On KL Rahul After Painful Blow
The second occasion was when he got hit on the box by a Ben Stokes delivery, leaving him in immense pain. The crowd fell silent as they empathised with the 33-year-old, who was seen breathing heavily and taking time between overs to recover from the blow.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant checked on his teammate, a gesture that quickly went viral on the internet. The picture is now circulating on social media, showing Pant looking at Rahul, who was still recovering from the blow to the box.
Pant: The Entertainer on Day 4
Day 4 was filled with Pant’s antics, as the southpaw was a complete entertainer on the field. Rishabh tumbled to the ground after failed scoop shots and was also caught talking to himself and getting angry for playing—in Sunil Gavaskar’s words—stupid shots.
Further, Rishabh had an entertaining chat with KL Rahul, assuring the senior batter that he would watch the ball carefully and keep his eyes on it.
At the time of writing, India are 153/3 at Lunch, with KL Rahul batting on 72 (157) and Pant on 31 (59)
