New Zealand batters amassed 401-6 against Pakistan’s high-flying attack in their must-win World Cup 2023 match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Team captain and comeback man Kane Williamson listed an imperial 95 from just 79 balls in the innings, while rising star Rachin Ravindra registered his third century of the tournament through his boundary-laden 108-run knock.

Notably, through the course of New Zealand’s batting blitz in Bengaluru, Williamson’s troops have attained a huge World Cup record, bettering their 2015 effort in Wellington.

New Zealand record their highest World Cup total

New Zealand scored 401 runs upfront against Pakistan to register their first-ever 400-plus total in a World Cup innings. Their latest effort in Bengaluru now marks their highest total in a World Cup game, bettering the previous record by eight runs.

Back during the 2015 World Cup, the New Zealanders had amassed 393-6 against West Indies in the fourth quarter-final of the tournament. Then opener Martin Guptill whacked his career-best 237* in the match, while Williamson listed a near run-a-ball 33 at number three.

Meanwhile, Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra shared a 180-run partnership for the second wicket to set up New Zealand’s colossal 401-run total against Pakistan in their must-win 2023 match-up.

Daryl Mitchell, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner provided the death-overs surge as the four accounted for 135 runs from just 87 deliveries combined, all within the final 15 overs of the innings.

A win against Pakistan at this stage of the 2023 World Cup will not only snap their three-match losing streak, but will also strengthen their chances to secure a top four finish on the points table.
