The inaugural match of WPL 2026 offered a glimmer of what was in store in terms of drama, tension, and a finish that will long be remembered. And it was all centred around Nadine De Klerk.

Calm under pressure and fearless when it mattered most, the RCB-W all-rounder produced a stunning innings to guide her team to a three-wicket win over the Mumbai Indians at the DY Patil Stadium.

When Nadine de Klerk walked in, RCB were in deep trouble. The team had lost quick wickets and at one stage were struggling at 65/5. The chase looked all but over. But de Klerk had other plans.

She started quietly, taking her time to settle in. Gradually, Klerk established a partnership and swung RCB back into the game. With each passing over, her confidence increased, and so did that of RCB.

Even when 29 were needed off the final 12 balls, she did not lose her cool. This was followed by the last over with 18 runs left and one wicket in hand, and all eyes on her.

What followed was pure brilliance. Facing Nat Sciver-Brunt, Nadine de Klerk produced a six. Then a four. Another six. The stadium erupted. With every boundary, belief surged through the RCB camp. 

And when she struck the winning four down the ground, she lifted her arms in celebration as her teammates ran onto the field to embrace her.

De Klerk finished unbeaten on 63 off 44 deliveries to help RCB to a thrilling victory by 3 wickets. Her epic finish caused a social media uproar. Fans praised her for a fiery finish and saving RCB from what looked like a definitive loss.

Mumbai skipper Harmanpreet Kaur even admitted that her team could have done better in regards to chances and bowling one good ball in the final over. Those small moments proved costly, and Nadine de Klerk made sure to make them pay.

With that win, RCB-W have started their WPL 2026 on a winning note. For Mumbai, a lot of introspection awaits, especially in death bowling.
