In a significant achievement, Afghanistan have defeated Bangladesh in a thrilling face-off to enter the semifinal of the ongoing T20 World Cup. Batting first, Afghanistan posted a modest 115-run total before their bowlers ran riot to restrict the Tigers to a paltry 105. Thus, they made it into the semis for the first time in a World Cup, knocking Australia out of the competition.

After rain interrupted the match for the second time, Bangladesh were given a revised target of 114 runs in 19 overs. They were rocked by a sensational bowling spell from the Afghan skipper Rashid Khan, who scalped four wickets to rattle them.

However, Naveen-ul-Haq was the real hero for Afghanistan as he got the final two wickets to ensure a memorable win for his team. After castling Taskin Ahmed with a well-disguised slow ball, Naveen trapped Mustafizur Rahman plumb in front of the stumps.

As soon as the umpire raised his finger, the Afghan players started celebrating, with the likes of Rashid Khan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mohammad Nabi expressing their emotions.

Although Mustafizur went upstairs to challenge the decision, he was disappointed as the TV umpire upheld the on-field call.

Thus, Afghanistan will face an in-form South Africa in the first semifinal, while India will take on England in the second semifinal in Guyana.
