In the ongoing Super Four fixture of the Asia Cup 2023 between India and Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan and Co. registered 265 runs while batting first.

India took four early wickets, however, skipper Shakib and Towid Hridoy joined forces in a 101-run stand as Bangladesh made a remarkable comeback.

The topsy-turvy innings again witnessed the dominance of the Indian bowlers, who claimed three more scalps to reduce Bangladesh to 193/7 in 41.2 overs.

India aimed to bowl out Bangladesh. But Nasum Ahmed, who came out to bat at number eight, stood in their path, making a way for Bangladesh's fightback.

Nasum scored a 45-ball 44 and partnered with Mahedi Hasan for 45 runs for the eighth wicket. Although Prasidh Krishna dismissed him in the 48th over, he had done enough damage, taking Bangladesh to a competitive total of 265 runs.

This is not the first time a Bangladesh No.8 has spoiled India's party. Remember the last ODI series where the two teams squared off. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who batted at the same position then, scored two consecutive match-winning knocks, including a hundred, as The Tigers won that series 2-1.

In the 2019 World Cup match as well, Mohammad Saifuddin while batting at number eight had hit an unbeaten fifty at Edgbaston.

And now Nasum has become the latest entrant in the list of India's recent adversaries.
