Mumbai Indians' latest joinee, Mitchell Santner, demonstrated his batting skills by smashing a quick 50* off 54 balls against England on day 1 of the third Test match. He arrived at the crease when his team was in a tangle at 231/7. His partnership with Tim Southee helped the Kiwis scale 315/9 at stumps.

New Zealand and England clashed in the third Test of the 3-game series earlier today at Seddon Park in Hamilton. The Englishmen opted to bowl first and regretted it immediately as openers Tom Latham and Will Young stacked a 100-run partnership. Kane Williamson also chipped 44 runs before a lousy collapse left the Kiwis reeling at 231/7. 

Mitchell Santner slams gritty fifty against England

Mitchell Santner, the in-form leg spinner, stepped up to the rescue. He increased the pace of the game and provided late resistance with his unbeaten 50, including a towering six off the day's last ball, giving New Zealand much-needed momentum.

He smacked 50 off just 54 balls, which is a positive sign for Mumbai Indians, as they picked him during the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 30 Lakhs.

MI snapped him in a steal deal because Santner is coming off an extremely successful Test series against India in subcontinent conditions. Hence, given he maintains his form, Santner will be a key match-winner for MI in the upcoming IPL season.

MI unveils new jersey, gets brutally trolled

On Thursday, Mumbai Indians revealed their new jersey for the upcoming IPL 2025 season across their social media platforms. Along with the jersey unveiling, the five-time IPL champions also announced Lauritz Knudsen Electrical and Automation as their new principal partner, thus replacing 'Slice.' 

The blue and gold colours of Mumbai Indians have been retained in the jersey while introducing slight additions like "MI" initials. Reactions to the new jersey, however, have come from two extremes. Although a few appreciated its fine finish and symbolic additions, several disappointed by stating that it lacks creative elements compared to past ones.
