Williamson dismissed in a bizarre manner [Source: @shivammm_/X.Com]
There have been some bizarre ways in which batters have thrown away their wickets in a cricket match and one of them was witnessed in the 3rd Test match between England and New Zealand on Saturday.
Kane Williamson, the former Kiwi skipper threw his wicket in the most amusing manner and it could be termed as an unlucky dismissal. The incident occurred in the 59th over of the match bowled by Matthew Potts.
The English bowler delivered a length ball angling into the stumps as Williamson went for a soft handed defensive shot. Unfortunately, the ball bounced off and went towards the stumps and in a desperate move, the former skipper tried to kick it away, but the ball crashed onto the stumps.
Kane Williamson was dejected and rightly so as these unusual dismissals don't take place every day. Plus, the right-handed batter was batting beautifully at 44 when the incident took place.
New Zealand in trouble after bright start
New Zealand's opening pair of Tom Latham and Will Young gave a solid start to their side in the first session. The duo batted cautiously on a green top and negated the English attack as they added 105 runs for the first wicket.
However, the dismissal of Will Young triggered a great Kiwi collapse as England churned out wickets at regular interval. While their top-3 batters (Latham - 63), (Young - 42), and (Williamson - 44) added crucial runs, the other batters failed to continue the good work as the Kiwis crumbled from 105 to 1 to 231/7 in the space of two hours.
Matthew Potts was the pick of the bowlers as the pace bowler grabbed 3 wickets to break New Zealand's batting backbone.
