The much-awaited IPL 2025 match between CSK and KKR is underway at the Chepauk Stadium. The visitors won the toss and opted to field first, asking MS Dhoni-led side to bat first.

The Men in Yellow got off to the worst possible start as they lost two wickets in the first five overs with just 16 runs on the board. Further, the match also marked the return of MS Dhoni as captain after two seasons.

Dhoni To Promote Ashwin Up The Order?

Amid the batting chaos, R Ashwin hogged the internet as a picture went viral where the right-arm off-spinner was all padded up in the dressing room from the first ball of the match. 

The image went viral on the internet and it made fans speculate that Dhoni might promote R Ashwin up the order, a move which Rajasthan Royals successfully implemented with Ashwin. 

At the time of writing this article, there are no signs of Ashwin in the batting order. Talking about the match, CSK are 18/2 after 4.4 overs.

Ashwin Boasts Good Performance In The Middle-Order In IPL

It is worth noting that RR made Ashwin bat at No.5 on several occasions and talking about his numbers, then the right-arm off-spinner has batted at No. 6 7 times and he has 159 runs, averaging 26.50.

Ashwin has also batted at No. 6 in IPL and in seven occasions, he has 46 runs. Further, in this season, Ashwin also has come to bat above MS Dhoni against RCB, but is yet to shine with the bat.
