The IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is happening today, May 23, but instead of playing in Bengaluru like originally planned, the game is being held at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

Why? The reason is simple: bad weather in Bengaluru.

This match was supposed to take place at RCB’s home ground, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, but due to ongoing rain and the risk of more washouts, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) decided to move it to a neutral venue where the weather is more favourable.

Bengaluru has already seen a match get cancelled due to rain, and weather reports suggest that more rain is expected in South India throughout May. To avoid any more disruptions, this match and possibly others are being shifted to different cities with better weather.

As per IPL rules, extra time has been added to all matches starting May 20, just in case rain causes delays.

What This IPL Match Means For Both Teams

RCB have already secured a place in the playoffs, but winning today would help them regain the top spot and boost their chances of finishing in the top two, which gives them an advantage in the playoffs.

However, if RCB loses, it opens the door for other teams like Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings to overtake them in the standings. RCB are also hoping to get back into rhythm, as they haven’t played a match since May 3.

SRH, on the other hand, are already out of the playoff race. They’re playing only for pride now. Still, their recent win against Lucknow Super Giants might give them some confidence going into this match.
