In what turned out to be a clinical victory for the Multan Sultans side, they got past Lahore Qalandars easily by 33 runs in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. On the back of an outstanding opening partnership between skipper Mohammad Rizwan and Yasir Khan, Multan Sultans posted 228 on the board.

Mohammad Rizwan And Yasir Khan Provided Dominant Start To Sultans

Batting first, the Multan Sultans side, who earlier opted to do so, started off brilliantly, where the opening combination of Yasir Khan and Mohammad Rizwan batted for 7.1 overs, and that's when skipper departed after being knocked over by Asif Afridi.

However, by the end of the seventh over, the duo had already batted beautifully for 89 runs, as they lost their first wicket on the very next delivery. Rizwan was knocked over for 32 after facing 17 deliveries, which consisted of four boundaries and a six, where his strike rate was 188.24, whereas Yasir Khan went on to bat for a total of 44 balls, as he was sent back in the 15th over, but not before scoring 87, where he had stuck six boundaries and as many sixes to help Sultans post a massive total of 228 on the board.

In doing so, this opening duo's partnership of 89 became the fourth highest opening stand for Multan Sultans against Lahore Qalandars in Pakistan Super League history.
