In the 38th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the home side dominated at the Wankhede Stadium. On the back of an excellent partnership between Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, Mumbai Indians won the game comfortably by nine wickets.

Rohit Sharma And Suryakumar Yadav Put On A Show Against CSK

In what turned out to be an absolutely one-sided affair, Mumbai Indians won the game against Chennai Super Kings as they chased down the score of 177 in just 15.4 overs on the back of an excellent second-wicket partnership between former skipper Rohit Sharma and India's T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav.

Batting first, Chennai Super Kings posted 176 on the board for the loss of five wickets, where Ravindra Jadeja (53) and Shivam Dube (50) helped CSK reach a competitive total. However, Mumbai Indians started off excellently with Ryan Rickleton scoring 24, while CSK were unable to pick a second wicket after the fall of Rickleton.

Rohit Sharma played an outstanding knock of 76* off just 45 deliveries with four fours and six sixes, while Suryakumar Yadav turned on beast mode with a 30-ball 68*, which consisted of six boundaries and five sixes at an outstanding strike rate of 226.67. CSK bowlers struggled throughout, as Mumbai Indians finished the game with 26 deliveries to spare.

On the way to this magnificent victory, the duo, Rohit and SKY, recorded a massive unbeaten partnership of 114 runs off just 54 deliveries as they eased the chase without any hassle. However, this 114-run partnership turned out to be the third-highest second-wicket partnership for Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings in IPL history.

Incidentally, the highest second-wicket partnership was between Rohit Sharma and legendary Sachin Tendulkar, where they batted together for 126 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai back in 2012, whereas the second-highest second-wicket partnership was between Rohit and Lendl Simmons at the Eden Gardens in 2015, where they stitched 119 runs together.
