Delhi Capitals beat Lucknow Super Giants by 8 wickets to win the 40th clash of the IPL 2025 season. In the first inning, LSG’s batting unit underperformed, posting only 159 runs. In the chase, Abhishek Porel’s 50 and KL Rahul’s gritty 57* helped DC seal a perfect chase in 17.5 overs.
Here’s how LSG vs DC panned out in Lucknow:
Marsh-Markram Dominate Ekana With Sublime Form
LSG were asked to bat first, and the opening pair of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram batted brilliantly in the powerplay. The duo stacked up an 87-run partnership, with Markram hitting 52 off 33 balls. Marsh, on the other hand, missed his fifty by 5 runs, getting dismissed on 45 off 36 balls. While Lucknow appeared in a comfortable position, a middle-order collapse turned the momentum in Delhi’s favour.
Mukesh Kumar’s Brilliance Keeps LSG In Check
Despite a roaring start, LSG lost traction in the middle order. Nicholas Pooran (9), Abdul Samad (2), and David Miller (14) failed to build a partnership. Ayush Badoni showed some courage, hitting 36 off 21 balls before Mukesh Kumar bowled him. Interestingly, LSG captain Rishabh Pant came out to bat at no.7 and faced only 2 balls without scoring a run. With that underwhelming finish, LSG managed to put only 159 runs on the board at the loss of 6 wickets.

Meanwhile, the DC camp had happy faces as fast bowler Mukesh Kumar delivered his best IPL figure of 4/33 in 4 overs.
Abhishek Porel Shines In The Second Inning
Delhi Capitals lost opener Karun Nair early as he got cleaned up by Aiden Markram. Karun tried to pull a back-of-a-length ball that stayed low and turned in sharply, but it sneaked under his bat, deflecting off his back leg and crashing into the stumps. Nair walked back on 15 off 9, but Abhishek Porel salvaged the damage from the other end.

He scored a gritty half-century off 33 balls with 5 boundaries and a solitary six. Porel’s inning helped DC surpass the 100-run mark in the 12th over.
KL Rahul Leads DC To Comfortable Victory

After Porel’s departure, KL Rahul took charge of the chase for DC. He smacked a stunning half-century, finishing in style with a six. His 57* off 42 and Axar Patel’s 34 off 20 helped Delhi Capitals chase down the total in 17.5 overs and claim a commanding 8-wicket win.
