In a heated moment during the Headingley Test between India and England, Mohammed Siraj had a staring contest with Harry Brook. With the English batter approaching his century, Siraj stared at the batter, followed by an exchange of words.
England responded well to India’s 471-run total in the second inning after Ollie Pope hit a ton. A good partnership was brewing between Brook and Jamie Smith as the former entered the nervous 90s in the 84th over.

Harry Brook’s knock began to frustrate India, as the batter was earlier dropped on a low score on Day 2. He made the most of the lifeline to slam a half-century on Day 3.
The incident took place on the fifth ball of the 84th over. Siraj bowled a hard back-of-a-length delivery on off-stump, which sharply nipped back in. Brook tried to push forward in defence but missed the ball completely.
It hit him on the back elbow and then rolled off his back thigh towards the off-side. For a brief second, Brook looked behind nervously, unsure if the ball had trickled back onto his stumps.
In a video shared by Star Sports on X, instead of walking back to his mark, Siraj stood in his follow-through, glaring intensely at Brook. The fast bowler stared him down for several seconds, with a few words exchanged between the two. Brook, though surprised at first, held his ground and responded with a calm expression.

The umpire and other players stayed out of the moment, letting the heat of the contest speak for itself. The exchange, however, didn’t escalate further.
Meanwhile, the fiery exchange left Brook startled a little as he made a costly mistake to get dismissed on 99. Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped him again off Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling, but Prasidh Krishna struck at the right time to deny the batter a hundred.
England got bowled out on 465, with India managing to hold onto a marginal lead of 6 runs.
