Yashasvi Jaiswal had a terrible day on the field in India’s first Test against England in Headingley, Leeds. He dropped a sitter in slips to give Harry Brook a lifeline on Day 3, and fans weren’t happy with his sloppy efforts.

In response to India’s 471, England batters responded with intent in the second inning. Ollie Pope hit a century, while Ben Duckett scored 62 off 84 balls. Harry Brook was approaching his century when Jasprit Bumrah set him up for a perfect dismissal, only for Jaiswal to make a meal out of it.

On Day 2, Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped a couple of catches in slips to deny Jasprit Bumrah a well-deserved fifer. His sloppy fielding continued on Day 3.

With Harry Brook approaching his ton, Bumrah bowled a short-of-length delivery outside off stump, which Brook poked at without any conviction. It was a soft dismissal waiting to happen, the ball flew to Jaiswal at a comfortable height, but the young fielder couldn't hold on.

Visibly distraught, Bumrah covered his eyes with his hands, soaking in yet another moment of heartbreak. The slip cordon stood frozen, helpless and disappointed.

The fans on the internet were equally livid as they trolled Jaiswal with memes and taunting messages.

"You can’t force someone to stand in slips just because you are a batsman. Jaiswal clearly has issues as a slip catcher. Maybe more mental than technical." - @vikrantgupta73

"Jaiswal fielding has ruined my life. I haven’t got over 3 dropped catches in Melbourne yet and bro has dropped 3 more in Leeds." @MC_Chandler01

Despite Jaiswal’s dropped chance, Prasidh Krishna caused a heartbreak for Brook as he was dismissed on 99. With that wicket, India made a comeback to reduce England to 398/7.
