Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has recovered from the fever that kept him out of the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle. The news was confirmed by Abdur Razzak, one of the national selectors from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The Tigers are currently on tour to Sri Lanka for a multi-format bilateral series. The first Test held in Galle ended in a draw after rain ruined Day 2’s play. With a significant loss of time, both sides failed to push for a result.

Meanwhile, in what could be a big boost for Bangladesh, star all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has recovered from a fever that forced him out of the first Test in Galle.

Talking to Daily Star, BCB selector Abdur Razzak confirmed that Miraz will be available for selection in the second Test scheduled on June 25 at Colombo. Whether he makes it to the playing XI will depend on team management’s final decision and how he performs in training.

In the meantime, Bangladesh is also dealing with fitness concerns over some of its key pace bowlers, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Mustafizur Rahman.

All three are recovering from injuries but are expected to take part in an upcoming practice match on Monday as part of the preparations for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, which begins on July 2.

What Happened In The First Test?

Sri Lanka held their nerve to draw the first Test against Bangladesh in Galle, despite a late spin threat from Taijul Islam. Earlier, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto smashed an unbeaten 125 and declared, setting Sri Lanka a target of 296. But Taijul’s three quick wickets reduced them to 48/4 before Dhananjaya de Silva and Kamindu Mendis ensured a draw at 72/4.
