Pakistan hammered Oman to start off their 2025 Asia Cup campaign on a triumphant note. Bagging the two points on offer with relative ease, number three batter Mohammad Haris hogged the limelight with the bat before Pakistan bowlers collectively demolished the Oman line-up.
Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the fourth match of the Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 between Pakistan and Oman, as it panned out at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Friday, September 12.
Mohammad Haris Bludgeons Hapless Oman With 66
Pakistan carted a competitive 160-7 from 20 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat first. After losing opener Saim Ayub for a first-ball duck to Shah Faisal, fellow opener Sahibzada Farhan and number three Mohammad Haris shared 85 runs for the second wicket to reach 89-1 around 11 overs, before the former had his innings curtailed by Aamir Kaleem for a run-a-ball 29. Haris, on the other hand, smeared a scintillating 66 off just 43 balls with seven boundaries and three huge sixes.
Shah Faisal (3-34) and Aamir Kaleem (3-31) picked up two more wickets each in the backend of the innings to ignite Oman’s spirited fightback. Fakhar Zaman (23* off 16) and Mohammad Nawaz (19 off 10) scored handy runs to fuel the ‘Men in Green’ at the death.
Wickets Galore Saim Ayub And Co. As Pakistan Wrap Up Oman
After failing with the bat, Pakistan all-rounder Saim Ayub dismissed both Oman openers within his first couple of overs with the new ball to claim figures of 2-8. Number three Hammad Mirza (27 off 23) and Mohammad Nadeem crafted crucial runs together to steer Oman to 41-2 just after the powerplay phase.
However, spinners Mohammad Nawaz (1-13) and Sufiyan Muqeem (2-7) struck back for Pakistan by dismantling Oman’s middle-order with precision. Faheem Ashraf also joined in the fun with two late wickets to bag figures of 2-6, while express paceman Shaheen Afridi knocked over Shah Faisal as Oman slipped from 41-2 to 51-9 in the space of just nine overs. The last wicket pair of Shakeel Ahmed (10 off 23) and unbeaten number 11 Samay Shrivastava hung around for a while to take Oman to 67 in 16.4 overs, but their valuable 16-run stand merely kept their defeat margin down to a staggering 93 runs.
