On Monday, December 1, Tamil Nadu defeated Uttar Pradesh in the final of the U23 State A Trophy Final to clinch the title at the Wankhede Stadium after going unbeaten throughout the competition. TN came into the final, topping Group C, followed by the wins over Andhra and Bengal in the knockouts, while UP had defeated Mumbai and Rajasthan in the knockouts to reach the final, having finished 3rd in Group A.

As the U23 One Day title for the 2025/26 season goes to the southern state, here's how the final panned out in Mumbai.

Fifties from Atish, Mohamed Ali and Parakh post a formidable total

While batting first, opener S R Athish gave Tamil Nadu a strong start with his 53 (38), with 7 fours and two sixes, while Mohamed Ali and Manav Parakh scored 57 each off 67 and 78 balls, respectively, to put 297 runs on the board in 49.3 overs.

Prashant Veer bowled a brilliant spell of 3/30 in 10 overs to continue his great form across competitions, while Akshu Bajwa and Vijay Kumar scalped 2/57 each.

In response to TN's 297, the Sameer Rizvi-led UP did not start well and were reduced to 17/3 and soon 98/5, led by G Govinth's opening spell. Rizvi tried to rescue the team alongside Veer, but fell to Mohamed Ali's off-spin at 41(52). The latter continued to attack and posted 87(65), before he was also dismissed by the off-spinner.

Thanks to Ali's 5/46 (10), Tamil Nadu bowled out Uttar Pradesh for 241 in 47.5 overs and won the title by a comfortable margin.

Notably, the Delhi Capitals batter, Rizvi, finished the tournament as second second-highest run-scorer with 728 runs in 6 innings, including a 202* run knock, averaging 242.67.
