Virat Kohli’s brilliant century in the first ODI against South Africa in Ranchi has once again reminded fans why he is one of the greatest batters of this generation. The star batter smashed 135 runs off 120 balls, guiding India to a strong total of 349/8. In the 1st ODI India defeated South Africa by 17 runs.

While fans celebrated the vintage Kohli knock, former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has now revealed what he believes is the real reason behind Kohli’s sensational form.

R Ashwin reveals why Kohli is not travelling with team

In a recent development, speaking on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin said that Kohli’s revival is closely linked to the way he has been training in recent months. According to R Ashwin, Kohli has intentionally chosen to stay and train in the UK, away from the 'noise' and constant attention.

"I feel that he is practicing away from the noise, and is not travelling with the Indian team, because of that, wherever he is preparing, he is getting some good practice. I don't have 100 percent proof of it, but from what I have seen, he has worked on his hip flexors," R Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

It is important to mention that Virat Kohli has spent significant time in England before India's tour of Australia and before the South Africa series as well. Much of his training has reportedly been individual, with only the final preparations happening with the team.

He also added that this method is clearly visible in Kohli’s rhythm, footwork, and hunger at the crease.

"What stood out was Virat Kohli's intent. We all know what kind of player Virat is, and he has nothing left to prove to anyone. The intent he showed, and the happiness he had on his face, that was amazing to watch. After a point, when there is nothing left to prove, it is all about the joy of the game. I also love that Virat emphasized that he played with complete joy, and that is the most important thing. Virat Kohli looked like he was in the zone," Ashwin added.

Virat Kohli also shared a crucial 136-run partnership off 109 balls with Rohit Sharma, rebuilding the innings after India lost an early wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal.
