In a latest piece of news, Scotland have announced their new head coach for the men’s cricket team. The former English cricketer Owen Dawkins has been given the responsibility of head coach for Scotland’s national men’s cricket team. Dawkins has been working closely with Gloucestershire as full-time head coach for the last 19 years since 2006.

Former Scotland skipper Gordon Drummond will be there in the role of Dawkins’ deputy. Earlier, Dawkins had been associated with Cricket Scotland in the capacity of a consultant and in other roles. Apart from him, Drummond will also be moving forward from his role as head of performance pathways to assistant head coach.

“Representing your country is a remarkable opportunity” - Owen Dawkins

Dawkins also expressed his emotions after getting appointed to the prestigious role for the Scotland cricket team.

“Representing your country is a remarkable opportunity, and as a coaching team we will work tirelessly with our players to help them perform at their very best and make the nation proud,” the former Gloucestershire batter was quoted as saying by BBC.

“We are fortunate to have several experienced, successful players who know what it takes to succeed at this level, alongside a group of talented young players at the beginning of their journeys. It's vital that everyone pulls together so we can reach the success we're capable of,” he added later.

Furthermore, the 46-year-old also spoke about his vision as head coach by maintaining good coordination with the entire coaching staff.

“As a coaching team, we are also committed to developing a broader talent pool - one that continually challenges and elevates the standards of the current squad. This is the start of a fantastic journey, and I can't wait to get to work with the team,” he said.

Notably, Scotland were looking for a new men’s head coach to replace Doug Watson, who stepped down from his position in September. Watson was associated with Cricket Scotland as head coach for two years alongside managing his coaching responsibilities in New Zealand
