The Indian batters prepared for Matt Henry and Mitch Santner came out of the syllabus in the second Test match in Pune. The wily spinner replaced Henry in the playing XI for the match and didn't disappoint as he wreaked havoc against the Indian batters.
On a pitch that assisted the spinners, Santner made full use of the conditions and picked up a 7-fer in the first innings to rattle the Indian batters who looked clueless against him. A better batting performance was expected in the second innings, but once again Santner ran riot and picked up another fifer to seal the win for the Kiwis.
He became the first New Zealand bowler to grab two 5-wicket hauls in the same Test, a memorable feat achieved by the talented spinner. Courtesy of his 13-wickets in the match, Santner broke several records, and one them includes registering the second-best match figures by a visiting spinner in India.
The 32-year-old scalped 13 wickets for 157 runs as he sits at the second position, just behind his teammate, Ajaz Patel, who picked up 14 wickets in the 2021 series.

India lose Test series at home for first time in 12 years
This was an embarrassing performance by the Indian team, and it was led by their batters. This is the first time in 12-years that they have lost a Test series at home.
The last time India lost a series at home was way back in 2012, when Sir Alastair Cook led English side defeated MS Dhoni's India by 2-1. Expectations were high India, despite their defeat in Bengaluru Test. However, the team collectively failed in Pune as Team India lost the Test by 113 runs.
