Cricket experts had their doubts when the Lucknow Super Giants signed Mitch Marsh and more so, asked him to open the innings. Prior to IPL, Marsh was injured and his availability in the league was suspected. However, he surprised everyone and silenced his critics with stellar performances.

In the match against Gujarat Titans, he took his game to the next level and smacked his maiden century in Indian Premier League. He reached the milestone in just 56 balls as he laid a strong foundation for the middle order batters.

With Marsh reaching the milestone, here are other Australians who have slammed a ton in the IPL.

Shaun Marsh was the first real Australian superstar in the league as he finished as the highest run-getter in the inaugural edition. Symonds, Hussey and Gilchrist scored their respective centuries in earlier seasons of the IPL.

Shane Watson took it to the next level, as the Aussie batter recorded 4 centuries playing for two different franchises. David Warner, his fellow opening partner for Australia also slammed 4 hundreds, with Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis and Marsh scoring a solitary century each.

Marsh's innings derails GT's momentum

Marsh has been brilliant for LSG throughout the tournament and he continued the assault against GT as well. Alongside Aiden Markram, he added 91 runs for the opening wicket, and when Markram departed, he joined forces with Nicholas Pooran as the pair then registered quick-fire 121 runs for the second wicket before Marsh departed for a brilliant 117 off 64 balls.
