For any cricketer, having a steady head on the shoulder is of prime importance, regardless of young or experience. However, for one Hrithik Shokeen, remaining calm and disciplined does not come easy.

In Delhi's Ranji Trophy 2024 Elite Group D's opening against Puducherry, Shokeen displayed his worst behaviour in the match at Kotla, getting involved in a heated argument with Puducherry bowler Saurabh Yadav.

In the match, which ended in a shocking loss for Delhi, Shokeen managed to pick four wickets and score 19 runs as his state side suffered a nine-wicket defeat. The 23-year-old made his First-Class debut in 2022 and has since played six matches, scoring 309 runs with two fifties, and claiming 17 wickets with three four-fors.

The former India Under-19 player gained fame after his stint with Indian Premiere League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI), which lasted for two seasons. Shokeen, who featured in 13 IPL matches, picking five wickets and scoring 66 runs remained unsold in the IPL 2024 Auctions after MI opted not to retain the young talent.

The off-spinner grabbed headlines during MI's clash against Kolkata Knight Riders last season when Shokeen got involved in an on-field altercation with former Delhi batter Nitish Rana after running the latter out.

Meanwhile, the outcome of Delhi's jaw-dropper defeat has resulted in Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) appointing a new captain Himmat Singh, who takes over from Yash Dhull

Delhi next clashes with Jammu and Kashmir on January 12.
