The Mumbai Indians showcased their big-hitting batting arsenal against the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium during IPL 2025. In the final two overs (19th and 20th), MI hit a whopping 48 runs without losing a single wicket, which was one of the most explosive finishes in IPL history.

In a virtual knockout game for the 4th playoff spot, MI hosted DC at Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai batted first but lost 4 wickets with just 113 runs on the board. 

Tilak Varma showed no intent, scoring 27 off 27 balls. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir embraced responsibility to shine under pressure and scripted history in the process.

Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir unleashed carnage in the last 2 overs against Delhi Capitals. Dhir hit 27 runs off Mukesh Kumar’s 19th over with 2 sixes and as many fours.

Moreover, in the last over, Suryakumar went after Chameera to fetch 21 runs, with 2 fours and as many sixes. Together, Yadav and Dhir stacked up 48 runs in the last 2 overs without losing a single wicket.

This effort now becomes the second-highest total MI has ever scored in the final two overs of an IPL innings. Interestingly, their top 3 finishes in the 19th and 20th overs have all come at their home ground, Wankhede.

The Wankhede crowd was on its feet as MI batters unleashed fireworks in the death overs. Suryakumar and Naman took full advantage of the small boundaries and flat surface, hitting sixes and fours with ease.

The Delhi Capitals bowlers were left with no solutions for the barrage, as MI concluded their innings on a good note, i.e 180/5. While Suryakumar Yadav stayed unbeaten on 73 off 43 balls, Naman Dhir contributed with 24 off 8 balls.
