Noakhali Express pacer Mehedi Hasan Rana delivered a stunning spell of fast bowling as he claimed a memorable hat-trick against Sylhet Titans on Saturday, December 27, in match 4 of the Bangladesh Premier League 2025-26.

The 18th over hat-trick that shocked Sylhet

Rana was brought into the attack for the crucial 18th over, with Sylhet needing 24 runs from 18 balls. The pressure was high, and the match seemed to be slipping away from Noakhali.

At the start, Mehedi Hasan Rana conceded 5 runs off his first three deliveries, but what followed, completely changed the momentum of the game and electrified the crowd.

On the fourth ball of the over, Rana struck a major blow by dismissing Sylhet Titans skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz, breaking a key partnership. He followed it up with another sharp delivery that trapped Nasum Ahmed leg-before wicket on the fifth ball.

With the field buzzing and expectations rising, Mehedi Hasan Rana completed a sensational hat-trick on the final ball of the over by removing Khaled Ahmed, who was tempted into playing a big shot but ended up finding the fielder.

Rana ended his spell with impressive figures of 4 wickets for 34 runs, reducing the equation to 19 runs off 12 balls and keeping Noakhali Express alive in the game.

However, despite Rana’s heroic effort, Sylhet Titans managed to hold their nerve and edged past Noakhali by one wicket on the final ball of the match, sealing a dramatic victory.

Rana joins an elite list of Bangladesh players

For Rana, with this performance, the left-arm pacer became the ninth bowler in BPL history to claim a hat-trick and the first player to achieve the feat in the 2025-26 season.

Rana is now also the eighth Bangladeshi bowler to record a hat-trick in T20 cricket. Al-Amin Hossain remains the only Bangladeshi to have achieved the milestone twice, while Mehedi Rana joins a distinguished list of BPL featuring names like Andre Russell, Wahab Riaz, and Mohammad Sami.
