Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ravaged RCB with seven wickets and more than three overs to spare in match number 10 of the IPL 2024 season.

Notably, KKR’s outcome also marked the first occasion this season where a visiting team upstaged a home team. The first nine fixtures of the tournament ended up resulting in favor of the hosts on each occasion, a string started by RCB’s defeat in the IPL 2024 curtain-raiser on March 22 in Chennai.

KKR ends IPL 2024’s home streak with win

It took IPL 2024 ten matches spanning its opening week before fans bore witness to a team registering a win away from home.

The season’s staggering home advantage streak was broken by a Shreyas Iyer-led KKR unit when they defeated RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 29. The match, marking the tenth game of the IPL 2024 season, featured a clinical run-chase from KKR batters, with number three Venkatesh Iyer smacking a 30-ball half-century.

Phil Salt and Sunil Narine also went berserk at the top as the duo shared 86 runs in less than seven overs to set up KKR’s emphatic run-chase triumph.

Earlier in the match, RCB stormed their way to 182-6 from their 20 overs off the back of Virat Kohli’s calculated 83 and Dinesh Karthik’s thunderclap eight-ball 20. Australian-based middle-order barbarians Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell also shaped crucial runs during their respective partnerships with Kohli.

The IPL 2024 season will now move forward with match number 11, set to be played between Punjab Kings and hosts Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on March 30.
