On Thursday, October 23, India locked horns against Australia in the 2nd ODI of the three-match series at the Adelaide Oval. The hosts won the toss and asked India to bat first. Similar to the first game, the Men in Blue failed to read the conditions and struggled against the lateral movement. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli returned to the pavilion cheaply, but Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer took matters into their own hands and stitched a 118-run stand for the third-wicket.

Rohit unhappy with Iyer's lack of game awareness

Both Rohit and Shreyas scored fifties but had their fair share of struggles against Josh Hazlewood, who was breathing fire with the new ball. Meanwhile, a new video has gone viral on the internet, which has captured a stump-mic conversation between Shreyas and the hitman.

The incident occurred in Hazlewood's seventh over when Rohit mistimed a shot that landed a few metres away from the bowler. Meanwhile, the former India skipper looked for a quick single, only to be sent back by Shreyas Iyer. The hitman was not impressed by that and felt that a run could have been taken as Hazlewood was tired and bowling his 7th consecutive over.

Rohit, Shreyas get into an argument

Here is how the conversation went between the two Indian batters.

  • Rohit: Aree Shreyas, Hoyega yeh (Shreyas, that was a run)
  • Shreyas Iyer: Arre aap karke dekho, mere ko mat bolo na phir (Aree look at it, Don't tell me)
  • Rohit: Aree terko call dena padega, woh saatva over daal raha hai yaar (You have to give the call, he is bowling his 7th over of the match)
  • Shreyas: Mujhko uska angle pata nahi hai, call do na (I can't see his angle. You have to give the call)
  • Rohit: Mai nahi de sakta call (I cant' give you the call)

Talking about the ongoing match, at the time of writing this article, India are in deep trouble as they are 226/8 after 45 overs.
