Swashbuckling Australian batter Travis Head had a lucky escape during Sunrisers Hyderabad's ongoing IPL 2024 clash against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Although MI's debutant seamer Anshul Kamboj castled Head with a ripper, the batter survived as it turned out to be a no ball.
The incident occurred during the fifth over of SRH's innings when they had already got a great start to their innings.
Bowling the second over of his spell, Kamboj started with a boundary before keeping things tight in the next few deliveries.
Bowling his fifth ball, Kamboj bowled a good length delivery from around the wicket as Head missed it completely. As a result, the ball went on to uproot his off stump, leaving him stunned.
However, while Head started making his way back to the hut, the TV umpire found that it was a no ball. So, the on-field umpire gave it a free hit to Head, who capitalised on it to collect four runs.
Thus, Kamboj, playing his first game of the season, missed out on his maiden IPL wicket owing to a no ball.
Meanwhile, Head's opening partner Abhishek Sharma had a poor outing, being dismissed cheaply by Jasprit Bumrah.
As of writing, SRH were 67 for one in seven overs, with Head and Mayank Agarwal unbeaten in the middle.
