'Not A Part Of...,' - Babar Azam Excludes Ace Pacer As He Hints At Pakistan's T20 World Cup Squad

Pakistan's white-ball skipper, Babar Azam, has revealed that experienced pacer Hasan Ali won't likely be part of their T20 World Cup squad.

Recently, Pakistan picked a robust 18-member squad for their upcoming tour of the UK, where they will play the T20I series against England and Ireland. To the surprise of the fans and experts, Hasan Ali also found a place in the side.

However, in the post-selection press conference, Babar Azam disclosed that Hasan has been picked purely as a backup for Haris Rauf for the UK tour.

“I am hearing for quite some time that why is he [Hassan Ali] back? Selectors have also made it clear that he is there as back up. It is not that he is part of the 15-member squad [for World Cup]. We need to understand that he is a backup because of his experience," Babar was quoted as saying by InsideSport.

As Pakistan's World Cup squad will be more or similar to that for the England and Ireland T20Is, it's expected that Hasan will be one of the reserves heading to the tournament.

In 50 T20Is, Hasan has scalped 60 wickets at an impressive strike rate of 16.92. However, with Mohammad Amir returning and Abbas Afridi emerging as Pakistan's death-overs specialist, it's highly unlikely that Hasan will be a part of the Men in Green's final fifteen for the World Cup.
