The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) paid a whopping INR 27 crores to Rishabh Pant and they would have hoped for him to deliver the goods, but almost 8 matches in and Pant is yet to play one-match defining knock. The trend of getting dismissed cheaply continued in the ongoing clash against his former team, Delhi Capitals.

Is Sanjiv Goenka frustrated with Pant?

For starters, Pant didn't came out to bat at his usual batting position (Number 4), but surprisingly walked out to bat at number 7 in the last over of DC's innings. This move was criticised by many, but Pant had the chance to finish off in style, but he failed yet again as the LSG skipper was dismissed for a 2-ball duck.

After his wicket, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was shown on the big screen who looked disappointed but gave a sarcastic smile as he couldn't believe what just transpired with his captain.

This was Pant's second duck against his former franchise, Delhi Capitals as his horror season continued. This season, Pant has scored 106 runs in 9 matches, at an average of 13.25 and a strike rate of 96.

DC need 160 to do double over LSG

The Capitals defeated LSG in their first encounter this season and dominated the proceedings in the second game as well. The LSG openers, after being out into bat smashed 87 runs for the opening wicket, but once the openers were dismissed, wickets started tumbling at regular intervals, with only Ayush Badoni standing tall and providing the finishing touch.

DC, need 160 runs to win and at the time of writing, the team is 56/1 in 6.2 overs.
