The match 11 of IPL 2024 is all set to unfold with Lucknow Super Giants all set to take on Punjab Kings at the Ekana Stadium. LSG have won the toss and have elected to bat first but the big news is that KL Rahul is not captaining LSG and it is Nicholas Pooran who will be leading the home team.

Rahul has some injury concerns and will only bat in this game. Punjab Kings, on the other hand, are going with the same team that has won one and lost one game so far.

Here are the playing XIs of both the sides -

Punjab Kings Playing XI : Shikhar Dhawan (c), Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shashank Singh, Harpreet Brar, Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh.

Impact Players: Prabhsimran Singh, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, Rilee Rossouw, Tanay Thyagarajan, Vidhwath Kaverappa

Lucknow Super Giants Playing XI: Lokesh Rahul, Quinton de Kock (wk), Nicholas Pooran (c), Devdutt Padikkal, Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, Mayank Yadav, Manimaran Siddharth.

Impact Players: Deepak Hooda, Ashton Turner, Krishnappa Gowtham, Naveen-ul-Haq, Amit Mishra.

LSG are going with three overseas players in their starting XI and Naveen-ul-Haq will most probably come as an Impact Player in the second half.

They have brought in two new players in the XI in the form of Mayank Yadav and Manimaran Siddarth and it would be interesting to see how they go about their business on the Lucknow pitch that is known to be quite tricky and unpredictable.

Punjab Kings, on the other hand, are a settled unit, there was a possibility of Raza coming in for Bairstow, but they have decided to stick to the same XI which speaks a lot about the stability they are trying to bring to the table this time around.

Also, Pooran’s choice to bat first is interesting as dew might play a factor in the second half and that might make the batting easy. However, if the pitch for this game is anywhere close to what we saw in the 2023 season, batting first makes sense with pitch slowing down further in the second half.

Overall, an interesting contest is on the cards, and the first six overs of the match, will surely give a clearer picture of how things will pan out over the course of next 3 to 4 hours.
