KL Rahul made a triumphant return to red-ball cricket after a grueling IPL 2025 season in India. Included in India A squad for the second unofficial Test match against England Lions at the County Ground in Northampton, Rahul composed a fighting half-century amidst the loss of two early wickets on Day 1.
As India A slipped to 40-2 inside the opening hour of the match, the senior Indian batter combined 86 runs for the third wicket with Karun Nair, and another valuable stand with wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel to steer his team past the 150-run mark.
KL Rahul Stands Tall After Early Collapse For India A
KL Rahul was included in the India A playing XI for the second unofficial match against England Lions in Northampton. Opening the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul completed his half-century from 102 balls during the 38th over of the day, doing so by nudging George Hill for a double.
At the time of completing his fifty, Rahul had clattered seven elegant boundaries to give his team a timely boost, and himself a perfect dress rehearsal ahead of India’s upcoming blockbuster Test series against the senior England men’s team.
India A eventually reached 173-3 in 45 overs, i.e., around the halfway stage of the day, with KL Rahul batting at 69* from 123 balls with 10 fours.
KL Rahul’s Importance In England Series
KL Rahul will start out as one of the senior most members of the Indian Test squad during the upcoming series in England, considering Indian batting superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma both confirmed their retirements from the format last month.
Rahul, a veteran of 58 Tests, has aggregated 3,257 runs at an average of 33.57, plundering eight tons and 17 half-centuries in the process.
