Day 2 of the fifth and final Test match between India and England at the Oval doesn’t look too promising weather-wise. On Day 1, rain interrupted the match a few times, though England captain Ollie Pope managed to win the toss and decided to bowl first. The pitch offered help to the fast bowlers, and India’s batting struggled, slipping to 153 for 6 at one point.

However, Indian batters Karun Nair and Washington Sundar helped steady things with an unbeaten 51-run partnership. Nair, who scored a triple century back in 2016, finally hit his second Test fifty, his first in nine years. India ended the day at 204 for 6.

Going into Day 2, the weather could again be a concern at the Oval. So, let's take a look at the forecast.

According to AccuWeather, there’s a 46% chance of rain and a small (9%) chance of thunderstorms. The temperature is expected to reach around 20°C (RealFeel 21°) with some sunny intervals.

Cloud cover will be about 45%, and there could be light showers, especially in the afternoon. Winds are expected to blow from the north-northwest at about 15 km/h. While some rain may cause short delays, it’s unlikely to completely wash out the day.

As for the match, it’s still wide open. India, led by Shubman Gill, must win this Test to avoid losing the series, as England already lead 2-1. India managed to save the last match with a dramatic draw, and now they have one final chance against an England team missing key players like Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer.
