In a big development regarding the Women's T20 World Cup 2026, three venues have been finalised to host the warm-up matches of the tournament. The competition will be played entirely in England and will start on June 12 at Edgbaston.

The three venues for the warm-up matches are Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, Derby Cricket Ground and Loughborough University. The tournament director, Beth Barrett-Wild, has expressed satisfaction with the selection of warm-up venues and has promised that it will help promote the women's game.

"We’re thrilled to welcome Sophia Gardens, Derby County Ground, and Loughborough University to the roster of incredible venues that will host the tournament next summer. The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 provides an unparalleled opportunity to really shine a spotlight on the excellence in our sport and to launch women’s cricket firmly into the mainstream. We’re delighted to extend that opportunity to even more English and Welsh fans through the warm-up games, and to inspire hundreds and thousands of people across the country to fall in love with women’s cricket,” Beth-Barrett-Wild as quoted by ECB.

The 2026 edition of the Women's T20 World Cup will see 12 teams go against each other in England, four more than in the 2024 World Cup. There will be a total of 33 matches in the 24-day competition, which will be played across seven venues, and the final will be played at the Lord's on July 5.

Currently, eight teams have locked in their place in the tournament while four teams would be selected through the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2026. New Zealand are the defending champions while the hosts of the upcoming edition, England, were knocked out in the semifinal last time around.
