India Women beat Bangladesh Women by 108 runs to win the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series in Mirpur. After falling short in the first ODI, Harmanpreet Kaur and team bounced back hard in the second ODI and leveled the series with a comprehensive win.

Jemimah, Devika Stifles Bangladesh's Chase

Chasing 229, Bangladesh Women got off to a slow start. The hosts managed only 22 runs on the board with the loss of two wickets in the first powerplay.

Deepti Sharma drew the first blood, removing Sharmin Akhter early in the powerplay, followed by Meghna Singh sending back the other opener Murshida Khatun in the very next over.

Bangladesh Women were in all sorts of trouble as they went on to lose another wicket just after the powerplay. However, Fargana Hoque and Ritu Moni managed to calm things down and added 68 runs for the fourth wicket.

Just when the hosts managed to overcome the initial shackles and looked like cruising towards the target, Devika Vaidya got the much needed breakthrough as she sent back Fargana for a well made 47.

In the very next over, Harmanpreet Kaur introduced Jemimah Rodrigues into the attack. Rodrigues didn’t waste any time and removed a set Ritu Moni in the fourth delivery of her first over.

India got themselves back in control and there was no looking back. The duo of Rodrigues and Devika went on to wrap things up pretty quickly as Bangladesh went from 106 for 3 to 120 all out inside seven overs.

Rodrigues scalped four wickets and gave away just 3 runs in her spell while Devika Vaidya finished with a figure of 30/3.

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, India Women posted a formidable 228-run total in the first innings. Bangladesh bowlers had things under their control in the first half of the innings as India were limited to three down with only 68 on the board at one stage.

Jemimah Rodrigues, who had a terrific day with the ball later, scored her best ODI score of 86 and pulled her side out of trouble. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur also scored a half century and stitched the match turning partnership with Rodrigues.

Sultana Khatun and Nahida Akter were the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh with two wickets each. India Women and Bangladesh Women will now face off against each other on Saturday, July 22 for the series decider.
