San Francisco Unicorns clinched their second win in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 season, prevailing over the Los Angeles Knight Riders by a convincing 22-run margin in the match held aat Dallas on Wednesday, July 19.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the San Francisco Unicorns launched a merciless assault on the bowlers of the Los Angeles Knight Riders. The innings kicked off with an outstanding 88-run opening partnership between Matthew Wade and Finn Allen.

The Australian wicket-keeper batter, displaying sheer ruthlessness, took the opposition bowlers to the cleaners, smashing 78 runs off just 41 balls, with the help of seven boundaries and five towering sixes. His stellar innings was finally brought to an end by Ali Khan.

Amidst the aura of Matthew Wade's sensational knock, it seemed inconceivable for any other batters to outshine him. However, Marcus Stoinis proved to be a showstopper within his own team, delivering a breathtaking performance with a quickfire 37 runs off a mere 18 balls.

Stoinis’ knock was braced with three boundaries and as many sixes. Interestingly, all three sixes were struck against his fellow countryman, Adam Zampa. The assault began in the ninth over when Stoinis faced Zampa, launching a massive six, followed by a boundary, and concluding with two more consecutive sixes on the last two deliveries of the over.

However, just as Marcus Stoinis appeared invincible and poised to convert his score into a big total, it was the Knight Riders' all-rounder, Andre Russell, who finally claimed the prized wicket in the 13th over.

Despite conceding a boundary to Stoinis earlier in the same over, Russell maintained his composure and delivered a tempting ball. Stoinis, who was in full flow, took the bait and attempted a big shot towards long off, only to fall victim to a stunning catch taken by Spencer Johnson.
