Jasprit Bumrah is a superstar of this game and he delivered once again in the Perth Test against Australia. In a Test match where he had the captaincy responsibility as well, Bumrah led from the front and grabbed a 5-wicket haul to push Australia on the back-foot.
It was his 11th fifer overall and second in Australia as the home side looked clueless in front hs his hostile bowling on Day 1 and Day 2. The last time he took a fifer on Australian soil was during the MCG Test in 2018 where he scalped 6 wickets to win the match for India.
He started off the carnage by dismissing the Aussie openers, Nathan McSweeney and Usman Khawaja. It was followed by trapping the big fish, Steve Smith for a first ball duck.
Bumrah bagged his 4th wicket of Day 1 when he knocked over opposition captain, Pat Cummins. The newly appointed India captain continued the onslaught on the morning of Day 2 as he picked up the wicket of Alex Carey to scalp a fifer in the Perth Test.
Bumrah equals Kapil Dev's record
With his latest fifer, Bumrah equalled legendary bowler, Kapil Dev's record of having the most fifers in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia). Both the champion bowlers have achieved this feat a remarkable seven times.
Zaheer Khan, and former spinner, B Chandrasekhar are the other two prominent bowlers in the list, having taken 6 five-wicket hauls in SENA countries.
Jasprit Bumrah fifers in SENA
His maiden 5-wicket haul came during his maiden Test tour of South Africa in 2018, when he bagged the feat in Johannesburg. It was followed by a fifer in Nottingham and Melbourne in the same year.
