Seems like captaincy responsibility has given Jasprit Bumrah extra wings as he continues to dominate the Australian side in their own backyard. On a Perth surface which has enough spice to scare the batters, Bumrah ran riot and bagged a 5-wicket haul on Saturday morning to stun the home side.

This was his second five-wicket haul against the Aussies, and both the fifers have come, Down Under. India needed to response strongly after a lacklustre showing with the bat. The team needed its best bowler to deliver the goods and Bumrah stood tall as he grabbed 4 wickets on Friday to give India the advantage.

He started of the carnage by picking up the scalp of debutant, Nathan McSweeney, and followed it up with the wicket of his opening partner, Usman Khawaja. However, the wicket of the day arrived in the form of Steve Smith as the star Aussie batter was knocked over for a golden duck by Bumrah.

With his tails up, the newly appointed India skipper put the cherry on the top by dismissing his fellow captain, Pat Cummins to end Day 1 with 4 wickets. With Australia 7 down, Bumrah showed no mercy and on the morning of Day 2, he struck immediately by dismissing the dangerous Alex Carey to scalp his second fifer against the Aussies.

Indian batters struggled on the opening day

India made a bold call by batting first on a Perth surface which had enough juice to tempt the fast bowlers. However, the decision backfired as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal, both departed without troubling the scorers.

Virat Kohli, too, followed them back as India struggled for runs. KL Rahul provided a bit of resistance, but was dismissed in a controversial fashion. Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy chipped in with crucial runs as India managed to reach 150 on the board.
