The high-octane IPL 2025 opener between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) got underway at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The match began with a drama, and it was ex-KKR star Suyash Sharma who was at the receiving end.

The incident happened when Josh Hazlewood took the new ball and went towards Quinton de Kock during the opening over. Quinton de Kock, just after hitting a ball for four, went for a slog, only to find a huge top edge.

It should have been an easy catch for Suyash, who was placed at short mid-wicket. However, all he could do was drop the simplest of chances, and Rajat Patidar, the new RCB captain, did not like what just happened.

De Kock Fails To Utilise The Lifeline; Hazlewood Strikes!

However, de Kock failed to capitalise the chances he got from RCB's terrible fielding, as Hazlewood got the South African wicket-keeper batter in the same over. Jitesh Sharma took an excellent catch to get the job done, as KKR lost quick wicket after RCB won the toss and asked them to bat first.

At the time of writing this, KKR are 32/1 after 4.2 overs, with captain Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine in the middle. While Rahane is batting on 16* off 8 balls, Narine is on 12* off 13 balls.
