SRK applauds Rahane
There were doubts when Ajinkya Rahane became the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), however, the elegant batter silenced the critics with a breath-taking innings against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). On a tricky wicket at the Eden Gardens which had something for the pacers, Rahane stole the show with his exemplary skills.
Rahane tears apart RCB bowlers
KKR lost the toss as RCB put them into bat and the decision paid off immediately as Josh Hazlewood dismissed Quinton de Kock cheaply. This is when Rahane came into the party as KKR's new number 3 bludgeoned his way to a fifty with some extra-ordinary hitting.
He started the carnage with a 16-run over against Rasikh Salam and this started the momentum for KKR as he then tore apart Krunal Pandya and Yash Dayal to reach his fifty in the opening match.
Rahane, Narine slam 100-run partnership to punish RCB
With Rahane going bonkers at one end, his partner, Sunil Narine soon joined the party as the duo took apart the RCB bowlers.
Narine, who started slowly made a mockery of Rasikh Salam and in the blink of an eye, the KKR duo added 100 runs together for the second wicket. However, the joy was short-lived as RCB came back in the contest with back-to-back wickets of Rahane and Narine.
While the West Indian all-rounder was dismissed for 44, Rahane, who looked threatening was sent packing for a well-compiled 56 off 31 deliveries. At the moment, KKR's 23.75 crore buy, Venkatesh Iyer has joined hands with Angkrish Raghuvanshi.
