Punjab Kings (PBKS) will collide with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 38th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 scheduled at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on April 28.

Currently at sixth position on the points table, Punjab Kings have won four of their seven matches. They latestly trumped Mumbai Indians (MI) by 13 runs in a high-scoring clash.

Ahead of Punjab Kings' home fixture versus Lucknow Super Giants, let us predict what can be the former's playing XI.

Openers: Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh*

Punjab may finally enjoy the services of their regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan, who has not been a part of the playing XI in the recent games due to an injury. Atharva Taide would make way for Dhawan.

Prabhsimran Singh, who has been scoring useful cameos, will be the other opener. If PBKS bat second, he can be the Impact Player.

Middle-order: Matthew Short, Liam Livingstone, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, Sam Curran, Jitesh Sharma and Sam Curran

If Dhawan returns, Matthew Short, who opened against Mumbai Indians, would have to play at number three. Short has not had a great tournament so far and if PBKS decide to drop him, Bhanuka Rajapaksa may come in.

In Punjab's 214-run total versus MI, their middle-order fired big time. Barring Liam Livingstone and Shahrukh Khan, who did not get to face a delivery, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma contributed heavily.

Bowlers: Harpreet Brar, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh and Nathan Ellis*

PBKS will go with two spinners in the form of Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar. Although the latter did not fare well against MI as he conceded 42 runs in his four overs, he will likely get another opportunity.

Arshdeep Singh took a four-for in the previous match and is a must in the playing XI.

Nathan Ellis or Kagiso Rabada will be Punjab's fourth overseas player. If PBKS bowl second, one of them can come in as the Impact Player.
