Gujarat Titans, the defending champions have notched up their third win of the season by beating Punjab Kings in absolute cracker of a game by 6 wickets in the last over. The win was setup by their bowlers with an impressive display on a good batting deck but Punjab Kings showed a lot of heart to stay in the game till the end. They almost pulled off a heist but GT just managed to inch past PBKS in the penultimate ball of the game.

Punjab Kings Batting Unit Falters against the Class of GT Bowlers

Punjab were put to bat by GT skipper and a lot depended on Shikhar Dhawan again to guide PBKS batting fortunes against the quality of GT bowlers. However, Dhawan encountered a rare failure after Prabhsimran Singh departed for second successive duck and after that, PBKS were just always behind the 8-ball. Little was the one who got a big wicket of Dhawan and Shami as always was brilliant in the first over with a wicket of Prabhsimran Singh.

Matthew Short looked good with a sparkling 36 but once Rashid Khan got rid of him after the Powerplay, PBKS just could not up the ante. Rajapaksa scored his 20 runs at a strike rate of 76.92 while Sam Curran managed a run-a-ball 22. It was only because of some late-striking by Shahrukh Khan 22 (9) that PBKS managed to cross 150 but it was always going to be an uphill task for them to defend the total of 153 runs. Mohit Sharma picked two wickets in his comeback game and overall it was a complete bowling effort from GT boys.

Gujarat Titans Keep their Cool to Seal a Win in a Tense Chase

Shubman Gill is in tremendous form these days and a sign of great player is that he makes sure that he makes the most of his form. That is exactly what Gill did as he held one end up and played some delightful shots on his way to 67 off 49 balls. Saha was also quite good in the Powerplay and smashed a quickfire 30 off 19 balls.

GT were always ahead of the game after that but Arshdeep Singh bowled a brilliant Penultimate over of just 6 runs which took the match to the last over with 7 needed off 6 balls. Gill though departed in the second ball of the final over and then Curran nailed some brilliant yorkers. However, Tewatia again kept his cool alongside Miller to seal an exciting win for GT.
