'These Are the Type of Characters You Want,' Mark Boucher Praises Suryakumar Yadav

Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mark Boucher commended Suryakumar Yadav for his valourous act as the former revealed that the 360-degree batter had personally expressed his willingness to bat at his usual position in the match versus Delhi Capitals (DC) despite not being in the best of condition.
For the unknown, Suryakumar was hit in the area just above his left eye while attempting a catch in the first innings of the clash versus the Capitals.
Although there were doubts over his participation further in the game, the MI number four batted at his regular spot in the run-chase. However, he bagged a golden duck.
Speaking on the 32-year-old's tough character, Boucher said:
"He did get hit on the field, he came in, and his eye was starting to swell. He had to ice it. I came in thinking, maybe we move him down in the order. He meets me in the bathroom and says, 'coach, actually I want to bat 4'. For me, that's not shying away from anything.
"These are the type of characters you want in the dressing room. When the times are tough, they're not scared to hide on the back of the change room. They want to go out there."
It's been just three matches for MI in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season but Suryakumar's form is seen as a concern already. 15, 1 and 0 is what he has managed to get in the tournament so far.
After attaining their first win in IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians are to play Kolkata Knight Riders on April 16 at Wankhede Stadium.
