Chennai Super Kings: 138-3 (Devon Conway 77 (57), Ruturaj Gaikwad 35 (30), Mayank Markande 2-23) beat (Sunrisers Hyderabad: 134-7 (20) Abhishek Sharma 34 (26), Rahul Tripathi 21 (21), Ravindra Jadeja 3-22, Matheesha Pathirana 1-22) by 7 wickets.
CSK have a win percentage of over 70 at their home ground, Chepauk and once again against SRH, they have delivered a dominating performance to completely outclass the Men in Orange. The win was setup by their bowlers with a clinical bowling display and then Devon Conway smashed another fifty as CSK registered an impressive win by 7 wickets.
Ravindra Jadeja Leads a Dominating Bowling Performance
MS Dhoni is known to choke down opposition teams with his plethora of tweakers at Chepauk and that is exactly what we saw in this game. The only addition to that was that their pacers too were pretty impressive both in the Powerplay and at the death. Akash Singh and Tushar Deshpande bowled with great intensity and control in the Powerplay as Harry Brook and his new opening partner, Abhishek Sharma failed to get going.
Brook eventually departed in the fifth over with Akash Singh getting the better of talented Englishman and after that things just went downhill for the visitors. The spinners were introduced into the attack by MS and Jadeja bowled a beautiful spell to break the backbone of SRH's batting line-up by picking three wickets. The Lankan duo of Theekshana and Pathirana got a wicket each as SRH's innings never got the momentum as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
There were eventually restricted to 134-7 as Abhishek Sharma top-scored with 34 off 26 balls which was never going to enough against a strong CSK batting line-up.
Devon Conway's Third Successive Fifty Guide CSK to Comprehensive Win
In reply, Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad wasted no time in get going unlike their SRH counterparts and smashed 60 in the Powerplay to put SRH way behind the game. Conway was the aggressor and he went onto score third consecutive fifty as Gaikwad batted with class and finesse. SRH though finally got their moment to cheer in the game in the 11th over when Gaikwad was unfortunately run-out at the non-striker's end while backing up a bit too much.
CSK eventually lost two more wickets of Rahane and Rayudu as Mayank Makande bowled another good spell but Conway kept his calm at the other end guiding his team to a seven-wicket win with an unbeaten 77 off 57 balls.
